Concord, NH – The New Hampshire Lottery is projecting New Hampshire players will place nearly half a million combined bets on this year’s NCAA Men’s and Women’s College Basketball Tournaments, which both began last week. New Hampshire players placed more than 290,000 wagers combined on the two tournaments through Monday, March 25.
The New Hampshire Lottery is projecting New Hampshire players will wager more than $12 million on the Men’s and Women’s College Basketball Tournaments. Customers in New Hampshire placed more than 230,000 wagers on NCAA Men’s and Women’s College Basketball Conference Tournaments earlier this month, reflecting a nearly 20% increase in betting volume compared to last year.
“Nothing beats March Madness! With all the buzzer beaters and upsets, I cannot think of a better way for fans to experience the thrill of sports betting than with three weeks of nonstop college hoops action,” said Charlie McIntyre, Executive Director, New Hampshire Lottery. “The Men’s College Basketball Tournament has historically been our largest sports betting driver each year and the Women’s College Basketball Tournament is building momentum as well. We expect significant betting to continue as the tournaments proceed over the next two weeks. As always, we are especially looking forward to the revenue March Madness sports betting drives for New Hampshire students, teachers and schools.”
UConn, the tournament’s overall number one seed, was the most-bet team by New Hampshire players heading into the tournament, but Tennessee has since surpassed UConn in New Hampshire betting, with Arizona now falling third.
