NH Players Bet More Than $23 Million on Men’s College Basketball Tournament

Concord, NH – New Hampshire Lottery players placed 300,000 bets totaling nearly $23 million during the three-week Men’s College Basketball Tournament – an $8 million increase over last year’s tournament – which concluded Monday, April 4, with the University of Kansas edging the University of North Carolina to win the National Championship. The New Hampshire Lottery and DraftKings Inc. (Nasdaq: DKNG), the exclusive digital sports betting operator in New Hampshire, saw players wager more than $1 million on the championship game alone. Between the Men’s College Basketball Tournament and Conference Tournaments held in March, players wagered more than $43.2 million on college basketball.

“We had high expectations for this year’s Men’s College Basketball Tournament as our largest sports betting driver and it certainly did not disappoint. We were ecstatic to see players wager more than $23 million on the tournament, representing a nearly 34% increase in total wagering for the tournament,” said Charlie McIntyre, Executive Director, New Hampshire Lottery. “The high volume of wagering throughout the tournament and the college basketball season as a whole demonstrates the growing demand for sports betting in New Hampshire, and we look forward to continuing this momentum throughout this year and beyond.”

Since July 2021, the beginning of the New Hampshire Lottery’s 2022 fiscal year, the New Hampshire Lottery and DraftKings have seen New Hampshire players place more than 11 million bets, totaling more than $575 million.

New Hampshire residents can download the DraftKings Sportsbook app to place wagers through DraftKings, the exclusive digital operator in New Hampshire. Sports fans can place bets on the DraftKings Sportsbook app via iOS and Android or online at Sportsbook.DraftKings.com.

In addition to mobile sports betting, the New Hampshire Lottery and DraftKings have opened three retail sportsbook locations. DraftKings Sportsbook at The Brook in Seabrook opened in August 2020 and DraftKings Sportsbook at Filotimo in Manchester opened in September 2020, with Filotimo opening a sister location in Dover in October 2021.
