CONCORD, N.H. – The New Hampshire Executive Council recently confirmed Chairman Debra Douglas for her fourth three-year term on the New Hampshire Lottery Commission. Douglas, who was re-nominated by Governor Chris Sununu, was first appointed to the New Hampshire Lottery Commission in 2009 and has served as chairman since 2010. Douglas’s term runs through 2022.

“I am honored and pleased to have the opportunity to serve on the New Hampshire Lottery Commission, and I am delighted to have played a role in the New Hampshire Lottery’s continued success, as we generated an all-time record of nearly $338 million in total sales last year,” said Douglas, a Bow resident. “That sales success last year allowed us to deliver a record $87.5 million in support for education in New Hampshire—which is what I’m most proud of.

“The New Hampshire Lottery represents fun, excitement and the thrill of winning, and we have continued to expand and enhance opportunities for players to play and win. New offerings, including KENO 603 and our online platform, iLottery, represent our commitment to engaging our loyal players, while also exploring and enticing new audiences. I am proud to continue to provide leadership and guidance as chairman of the nation’s first state-run lottery system.”

During Douglas’s tenure, New Hampshire Lottery annual sales have increased from $240 million in Fiscal Year 2009 to an all-time record high of nearly $338 million in Fiscal Year 2018, which marks a 40.8-percent increase.

In addition to the New Hampshire Lottery Commission, Douglas is also New Hampshire’s representative on the Tri-State Lotto Commission, which includes New Hampshire, Vermont and Maine. Douglas will assume the rotating role of Chairman of the Tri-State Lotto Commission once again this year, as she previously did in 2010, 2013 and 2016.

Originally from Paris, Tennessee, Douglas has had an accomplished career. She held leadership positions at Ferrofluidics Corporation, Hutchens Investment Management, Chadbourne Securities, and Merrill Lynch. Douglas also served on the Board of Trustees of the New Hampshire Retirement System, as a Special Assistant to New Hampshire Governor Judd Gregg, and as a delegate to the White House Conference on Small Business.

Active in community and charitable efforts, Douglas has served on the Board of Directors and as Capital Campaign Chairman for the Friends of the Bridges House. She has also been active with New Hampshire Highland Games, Chester College, the New Hampshire High Tech Council, the Odyssey House Foundation, the Miss New Hampshire Pageant and the American Heart Association.
