CONCORD, N.H. – With the help of legendary Boston Red Sox™ slugger David Ortiz, the New Hampshire Lottery launched the $5 Boston Red Sox™ 2018 World Series Championship™ Scratch Ticket yesterday at the New Hampshire State House. David Ortiz took part in the event with New Hampshire Lottery Executive Director Charlie McIntyre, along with the Boston Red Sox team mascots, Wally the Green Monster and Tessie the Green Monster. The $5 Boston Red Sox™ 2018 World Series Championship™ Scratch Ticket features four $100,000 top prizes and second-chance drawings featuring multiple Boston Red Sox ticket packages.
“I’m excited to help introduce the New Hampshire Lottery’s Boston Red Sox™ 2018 World Series Championship™ scratch ticket,” said David Ortiz, the 2013 World Series MVP. “This game has four chances to win a $100,000 top prize. I’m so pleased to be able to support my friends at the New Hampshire Lottery, which has generated more than $2 billion for education in New Hampshire.”
The $5 Boston Red Sox™ 2018 World Series Championship™ Scratch Ticket is on sale now at more than 1,300 New Hampshire Lottery retailers statewide. In addition to four $100,000 top prizes, the game features dozens of opportunities to win $1,000.
“With the Boston Red Sox winning yet another World Series last year, our timing couldn’t be better for launching this new $5 Boston Red Sox™ 2018 World Series Championship™ Scratch Ticket,” said Charlie McIntyre, executive director, New Hampshire Lottery. “New Hampshire loves the Red Sox and we know this new scratch ticket will be tremendously popular with our players, especially with four chances to win $100,000 and terrific second-chance ticket prizes. The only thing that can make this more of a homerun is if the Red Sox repeat as World Champions this year!”
Following the ticket launch event at the State House in Concord, Ortiz played KENO 603 at a series of Manchester establishments, including Billy’s Sports Bar, Yee Dynasty and Backyard Brewery. Ortiz visited establishments to generate awareness and interest in KENO 603, sales of which generate critical funding specifically for full-day kindergarten.
“Along with helping us launch the new scratch ticket game, we were pleased to have David come meet our players and to try his hand at KENO 603,” McIntyre added. “He certainly knows a thing or two about winning!”
To help celebrate the new Red Sox scratch ticket game, an independent panel at the New Hampshire Lottery selected nine youth baseball and softball players from throughout New Hampshire to take part in the ticket launch event and to meet David Ortiz. In selecting players, the New Hampshire Lottery solicited nominations from coaches across the state, inviting them to nominate players with a positive attitude, exceptional work ethic, leadership traits and a team-first approach.
David Ortiz threw a baseball to all nine players during the ticket launch event. Players include:
- Eva Zavas, Wolfeboro
- Stephen Marchibroda, Portsmouth
- Madison “Maddy” Saucier, Londonderry
- Logan O’Connell, Bedford
- Lillian “Lilly” Cooper, Keene
