Powerball Jackpot Projected to Skyrocket to $1.04 Billion for Tonight’s Drawing

10/2/2023

Concord, NH – New Hampshire Lottery players will have the chance to win an estimated $1.04 billion Powerball prize in tonight’s (10/2) drawing. The anticipated $1.04 billion jackpot would be the fourth-largest jackpot in Powerball history, and the sixth-largest lottery jackpot on record. The New Hampshire Lottery expects the one-time cash payout to increase to $478.2 million. (Estimated jackpot amounts are determined before taxes are withheld.)

One lucky New Hampshire player purchased a $50,000 winning Powerball ticket for the drawing on Saturday (9/30) at the Price Chopper on Ash Brook Road in Keene.

“There is absolutely no stopping the rise of this Powerball jackpot as our New Hampshire players now have the opportunity to win more than $1 billion!” said Charlie McIntyre, Executive Director, New Hampshire Lottery. “Powerball sales topped $1.4 million last week alone and we would expect that sales momentum to continue right up until the drawing tonight.”

Powerball drawing results from Saturday, September 30, were: 19-30-37-44-46 PB-22 with a Power Play of 2.

“As the Powerball jackpot has now surpassed the $1 billion mark, we want to take this opportunity to encourage our players to play responsibly,” McIntyre added. “Taking part in Powerball pools with friends and colleagues is a great way to responsibly experience the excitement of the game. Remember, you have to play to win but it only takes one to win.”

The top-10 Powerball jackpots in history were:
1. $2.04 billion, November 7, 2022
2. $1.58 billion, January 13, 2016
3. $1.08 billion, July 19, 2023
4. $1.04 billion, October 2, 2023 (anticipated)
5. $768 million, March 27, 2019
6. $758 million, August 23, 2017

8. $731 million, January 20, 2021
9. $699 million, October 4, 2021

The $1.04 billion Powerball jackpot has been growing since July 19, when a lucky California player purchased a $1 billion jackpot winning ticket. Since the drawing in July, there have been 32 consecutive Powerball drawings without a jackpot winner.

Powerball drawings are held Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays at 10:59 PM.
